Outline lands in September with an all-out party. A series of live electronic sets draw on overlapping facets of house, disco and r&b with Outline's signature left-of-center twist. Starting in pools of ambient beauty, the night moves through a sequence of performances and escalating BPMs that finally give way to a proper DJ set to cap it off. Yaeji headlines with a DJ set and immersive a/v show. The Korean-American artist has become a major figurehead, balancing underground dance sounds with breezy, fluid songwriting. Make it rain. Ninja Tune artist Sofia Kourtesis reinvents deep house on a cinematic scale, tapping into unbridled emotion and ancestral lineages. Ela Minus' tender, sometimes bristing pop weaves a revolutionary streak around themes of love. Nourished by Time's fearless intimacy calls to mind the diaristic yearning of Arthur Russell and the joyous rawness of boogie rarities. Malibu opens with waves of lush, transportive ambient.
