JAM SKATE WORKSHOP WITH THE LIBERTY GIRLS
Xanadu - New York
Friday, September 27 at 6:00 PM
About
The founders of the Liberty Girls NYC (Ariel, Karen, and Melody) are NYC natives from the Bronx and the Lower East Side that identify as queer women of color. They enjoy creating choreography that transcends across different styles of skating to bring the community together. Join us for this beginner-friendly workshop where they will focus on drills to develop the skills needed to learn the strut walk, crazy legs, and heel-toe spins specifically. You can implement these stationary moves when freestyle jam skating or when putting together any routine. We highly recommend the use of jam plugs, but toe stops can also be used if needed. Please note that we will not be covering skate fundamentals! Skaters join us must already know the basics of skating, including basic balance and control, skating forward, and stopping. A workshop ticket includes access to an early warm-up on the rink from 6 PM to 7 PM and entry to our Ladies Night—Vinyl Nights Roller Jam with Misbehaviour, DJ Jazzy Joyce, and Ultraviolet that follows. Skate rentals are available for $7. We can’t wait to jam with you! See you there
